I was wondering if anyone has any information on myofibrosis or knows
anyone who has this malady. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Sorry if this is the wrong group, it’s the best I could find in our hierarchy.
What is the best way to survive falls from a great height? Some things I’ve
heard are: 1) Parachutists are told to try to land flat on their backs if
their chutes fail. 2) When falling from moderate height rolling helps. 3)
Being limp or unconscious helps. (A distant relative survived a fall of
about 10 stories because several stories down he hit something that knocked
him out.)
So: What is the best way to survive a fall? Does the strategy change for
different heights of falls?
I suspect this will generate at least some speculation. If your posting
starts with "I think that…" please consider mailing it to me instead of
posting it.
Hi,
I’d like to get an (obviously) empty bottle of Rogaine (a hair loss Rx treatment).
I intend to use it as a birthday present to my brother, again obviously,
as a joke.
The original box that it comes in would be a plus!
Please e-mail, as I don’t read sci.med, and rarely read misc.wanted.
Thanks in advance!

I am taking my medical college admission test on April 27,1991.
I have used the Flower’s prepration guide to review the material .
The new MCAT will test student’s problem solving abilities(******).
MCAT format (5 3/4 hrs. ):
verbal reasoning
physical science
biological science
writing samples
Can anyone give me some advice on how to tackle the MCAT problems?
You can tell me about your own personal experienc ("MCAT phobia").
Do you know any ways of remembring hard material in biology/ organic chemistry?
Help me with my MCAT review by giving me problems or suggestions.
Thanks!!!!!

oops about myself…… I am a undergraduate pre-medical student at U of S.
I plan to go to medical college in Philadelphia . I learn about lots of
medical issues from sci.news. The article on "choosing medicine as your career"
and the debate on "fetal transplant tissue " were very informative.
I remember hearing a while ago, a whole lot of fuss about Mono-Sodium-
Glutemate (MSG) being used in many food preparations, and how it can have
dangerous side-effects, or something. What was it all about ? What was
concluded ? All I know is that Heinz and Campbells have both stopped using
MSG in their soups, and to me it just tastes like watery slop now
Please, someone inform me !

As I mentioned in my previous posting, I was advised by my internist
to take 1500mg of Niacin a day to see if it would lower my
cholesterol. (I’d like to thank all who posted advice about this; I’ll
make sure that the internist keeps tabs on my liver function).
So far, I’ve had a serious reaction only once: my face and neck turned
bright red, and I felt very hot. This lasted for 2-3 hours, and then
went away. The interesting thing is that on this one day, I had some
sun exposure–In fact, I had a very light sunburn on the back of my neck.
I wonder if there could be any connection between these two events? (A
single instance of these two coming together might be coincidence of
course.) I’m wondering if sun exposure can somehow increase
sensitivity to niacin.

Did anyone else see The Silence of the Lambs? Are physical restraints such as
those face masks/muzzles ever really used on psychotic patients?
