MSG – what was all the fuss ?

  I remember hearing a while ago, a whole lot of fuss about Mono-Sodium-
Glutemate (MSG) being used in many food preparations, and how it can have
dangerous side-effects, or something. What was it all about ? What was
concluded ? All I know is that Heinz and Campbells have both stopped using
MSG in their soups, and to me it just tastes like watery slop now :(
