Does anyone have any good advice on how to handle a bad case of Sinusitus?
What is the best over the counter medicine? Are there other ways to lessen
the effects? Thanks! +Mark O+

For non-medical intervention you can try hot wash cloths, steamy
showers and saline nasal sprays to try and drain the sinuses. I’ve
also had some luck with snorting some saline solution directly. It’s
amazing what gunk comes out. But the problem in sinusitis is that
your sinuses aren’t draining, providing a nice fertile breading ground.
For minimal type medicine you can add decongestants like Sudafed
and standard pain relievers for the inflammation and pain (like
Aspirin and Advil).
If it’s really bad or has gone on more than a week or two then go
to a MD and get a prescription for antibiotics. That usually takes
a couple of days to clear it up during which you can do the above
things to be more comfortable.
Good luck,

Try sniffing warm salt water ( normal saline solution) with a few
drops of glycerine ( for moisture). Use about 6 ozs. for each
nostril. Do this several times a day. My allergist recommended
this and it sounds yucky but, brings much relief.

Er… presumably one must take care not to swallow the normal saline,
right?
How much glycerine per how much water?

I think you mean "Illegitimi non Carborundum," which literally means
"Illegitimate people are not Carborundum (grinding powder)" (and thus
should not be allowed to grind you down). This was said by a famous
journalist; I can look up the reference, I think, if you want.
Make sure that there is no accompanying infection – that is, no green
or yellow discharge accompanying the other symptoms. If there is
infection, you’ll need a prescribed antibiotic. Also, don’t use nasal
spray decongestants for more than 3 days – you’ll bloody-well regret
it. You can buy a sterile saline solution called NaSal which bathes
the tissues without the thinning effects of spray decongestants, and
since it’s sterile, there’s a bit less of a chance that you’ll
introduce an infection into the already tender tissues.

You won’t swallow it I promise. Use about 1/8th tsp. of salt to
6 ozs. of water and 2 drops of glycerine.

I would appreciate the reference. Actually the quote came from a
book called The Hand Maids Tale. It was written on a piece of paper
the main character found hidden, it was meant to give her hope.
